Lakes Area Interfaith Caregivers is a nonprofit organization serving the senior citizens of Crow Wing County and employing a network of nearly 400 volunteers drawn largely from our faith community. We respond quickly to real needs made known to us through social services, private institutions, churches and individuals. The services we provide are rendered free of charge, though donations are very much appreciated.
Our volunteers are truly the folks on the front lines. They use their time and talents ...their own hands, their own backs, and their own hearts. They build dozens of wheel chair ramps annually, conduct home visits, fix broken things, and supply transportation to shopping and medical appointments, accumulating tens of thousands of miles annually. They prepare meals, perform occasional lawn care and snow removal, all without the forms, delays, red tape or strings of government programs. Our work is funded by donations, with materials and labor generously given by individuals and businesses throughout the area.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization and all contributions of funds and materials are tax deductible. Nearly 70% of our funding comes from donations from businesses and individuals. Our mission, formally stated, is as follows:
...to serve elderly area residents with timely assistance for short term personal and household needs using volunteers drawn from the faith community of Crow Wing County. Our collateral purpose is to encourage involvement by the local faith community through direct participation in implementing solutions to the challenges facing our senior community, particularly those of the poor and disabled. Services performed will be rendered so as to facilitate the safety, independence and comfort of the recipient to the greatest possible extent. Our guiding principal is taken from Scripture, 1 Peter 4:10
